Roughly four months ago, I did much of my photography work, much of my stay-at-home work, and much of my “junk hoarding” in our third bedroom upstairs. I knew that wasn’t going to last forever, but it became a lot more real when MOMFC decided to drop the news on me that it was time to convert the office to the nursery, and my entire “darkroom” was relegated to a corner in the basement.
Well, after a long couple of weekend days, and a handful of 15-30 minute spurts of hard work, the nursery is finally complete, and Elise and I are happy to share the results!
Obviously, with the room being the size of some people’s walk-in closets, there wasn’t a ton of space. That being said, my wife is the master of organizing messes, and she’s done a great job of utilizing the empty space. They know her by first name in Target and IKEA’s storage departments and we have enough storage tubs to house food for a small army. Every stitch of clothing has been cleaned in Dreft Detergent (who knew you needed special crap to wash baby clothes?!), every single inch of top space has been disinfected, and we’re ready for our little guy to join our world!
Personally, I know I’m ready to become a father. How do I know this? Last night, Elise and I attended a breast feeding class. Pause on that for a second while you remember who I am, and what I’m all about. Our breast feeding class was two and a half hours.
I went the whole time without giggling. I didn’t giggle at the 100th utterance of “nipple”. I didn’t giggle every time they showed a boob on screen. I didn’t giggle when they passed around the fake boob.
I’m an adult who is about to have a child, and I….behaved.
Now, that’s not to say I didn’t lose my mind when we finally got to the car. How is a man not supposed to give a little chuckle when he hears the word “nipple”? I bet half of you are laughing at it right now!
But I made it!
A quick update to my previous post about PeaPod. We had our first experience with something being wrong in our order, and PeaPod made everything right. Apparently, PeaPod will substitute similar items if the item you selected is out when they go to pick it up. If you let them know it was wrong, they’ll mark the item as “Do Not Substitute” and credit your account back. That’s fantastic customer service.
So that’s the update. Tomorrow, Elise is 34 weeks along. There’s really not much time left. I’m guessing our boy is coming early, but I’d love to hear your guess. Also, let us know what you think of the nursery! Elise would love your feedback!
